Mahana noticed the arm of the man and recognized in his arm the bracelet that she gave to a boy who promised to comeback for her. The father of mahana agreed but mahana is furious and slapped the new johnny lingo. The new Johnny Lingo, however offered eight cows for the hand of Mahana. The new Johnny Lingo asked the hand of mahana from her father, the latter Agreed if he will give him two cows as dowry of Mahana. He went to see her in their house but was rejected by Mahana. When the night came, all arrived except for mahana whom he made his promise. ![]() When he arrived, he was well received and asked that every maiden would be shown that night so that he can choose his bride among them. As a new Johnny Lingo, Tama decided to comeback to the island where he left a girl named Mahana. The adopter of the boy gave his name, Johnny Lingo to him. Ten years has passed and the adopter of the Tama, Johnny Lingo, is about to die. He invented some simple machines that will help him finish his work faster yet efficient. He was given work by Johnny Lingo and found ways to make his work easier. The boy drift ashore and was found by Johnny Lingo. Everyday from the day of the departure of Tama, Mahana will wait at the shore looking for her friend's arrival. ![]() One day, the boy planned to explore and promised to mahana that he will come back. Even though she is ugly and ill treated by her father and the people around her, she remained kind and good. Plot edit An orphan boy named Tama is adopted by an island chief named Malio who, having no children of his own, intends to raise Tama as his son and heir. It is an extension of the 1969 short film Johnny Lingo that is based on a story by Patricia McGerr. He became friends with a girl named Mahana who is considered ugly by the villagers. The Legend of Johnny Lingo is a 2003 film set in Polynesia and directed by Steven Ramirez. However, the use of the lovely vistas in the background had been partially limited by the problems associated with atmospheric conditions.Orphan boy named Tama bounced around between families and getting into trouble. Adapted from a short story written by Patricia McGerr in the 1960’s, Johnny Lingo’s message about love and self-image has been translated into dozens of languages and continues to resonate with millions of people the world over. The color balance turned out to be acceptable as well, in spite of the unusually colored skies. Most importantly however, Johnny has found a way to honor Mahana and, in fact, to honor love itself. Fortunately the drizzle-like rain did not show up on film, and shots with it matched those filmed when it was not raining. Once again shots were framed to avoid showing the sky. The production was on a tight schedule so filming continued in the rain, which was accompanied with a washed-out sky. Trader Harris: How do you like that Tulo. Come down and be ready to greet your husband to be. ![]() The valley where the principal action (in the village) was to be shot turned out to be located just below a mountain where the heaviest rainfall on the island occurred. What are you hiding up there for Today is the day of bargaining. Production was then delayed by rain which came as a fine mist. When filming resumed, tighter shots were used to exclude as much of the sky as possible. Production ceased, with the film company waiting for the skies to clear. Big, black clouds of soot filled the sky for a couple of days, with ash even landing at the filming location. Smoke and ash from the eruption of Kilauea in October, 1969 drifted over to the island of Oahu (which is not typical of such eruptions). The crew was informed that a volcanic eruption had just started on The Big Island. This caused concern because some of the major action of the film was about to be shot, and the effect of the orangish sky on the color balance of the picture was unknown. On the first big day of shooting, the crew arose to find the sky had a peculiar orange cast. ![]()
